South Bay Officer-Involved Shooting Under Investigation

No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting, authorities said.

SANTA CLARA, CA — A South Bay officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning in Santa Clara is under investigation, police said.

At least one shot was fired Tuesday morning during the arrest of two suspects sought in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation, Santa Clara police said.

No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting, police said.

Officers from the agency’s Special Enforcement Team (SET) at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday attempted to arrest two suspects seen in a vehicle reported stolen in the 1200 block of Lincoln Street, police said.

“During the arrest, a SET Detective discharged their duty weapon,” police said in a news release.

“No one was injured because of the weapon discharge.”

Both suspects fled on foot from the stolen vehicle and were apprehended a short distance from the scene, police said.

Police said there are no outstanding suspects.

“This incident remains an active investigation,” police said.

“As a result, no additional details can be shared at this time.”
