Man Firing Inside Santa Clara Gas Station Shot Dead By Police: PD

Police said they received multiple 911 calls of a man firing indiscriinately in the gas station parking lot and inside the store.

SANTA CLARA, CA — A man shooting who police say opened fire inside a gas station in Santa Clara was shot and killed when officers confronted him.

Santa Clara police responded to the Rotten Robbie's gas station in the 3400 block of Lafayette Street early Saturday morning. Police said they received multiple 911 calls around 5:42 a.m. about a heavily armed man indsicriminately shooting in the parking lot and inside the store.

Officers arrived on scene and could hear and see the man shooting inside the store, police said.

Officers confronted the suspect and shot him, police said. The suspect died at the scene.

Police identified the man as a 55-year-old San Jose resident. Police said the man was an employee at a Rotten Robbie's in Cupertino. Prior to going to the Santa Clara location, the man set a fire inside the cashier's kiosk inside the Cupertino Rotten Robbie's on Stevens Creek Boulevard.

A joint investigation is underway with the District Attorney's office.
