Suspect Who Stole Puppy Sought By San Jose Police

A man walked in a business, grabbed a 6-week old puppy, then drove off in a Mercedes with very distinctive windshield wipers, police said.

SAN JOSE, CA — San Jose police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who stole a puppy from inside a business on Monday. Police said the suspect, only described as an adult male, walked into the unidentified business in the 2000 block of Bering Drive in north San Jose at 3:17 p.m. Monday.

According to police, the suspect petted the six-week-old Husky/Golden Retriever mix that approached him, grabbed the dog, walked back to his vehicle and drove away.

Police said the suspect drove a black Mercedes-Benz SUV which had yellow windshield wipers. The dog is described as having gray fur with a white tail that was sporting a pink collar with the name "Nyla" engraved on it.
