Troy, Michigan Thinks it's Better Than Cupertino
It's time for Cupertino to speak up and educate the residents of Troy on why we deserve to be in the #26 spot, not them!
The battle is on for bragging rights. When Troy Patch editor, Jen Anesi, got wind that in Money Magazine’s top 100 list of best small cities, .
So, Troy, are we going to sit here and let them talk smack, or are we going to tell them why, exactly, Troy deserves to be ahead on the list?
Here’s what some of her readers had to say, and they're really letting us (and me!) have it:

John David
“…compared to many other places, it's not that hot and muggy here in the summer.”

Really John David? I grew up in Michigan and lived in Florida for a long time; there’s not a whole lot of difference. Hot is hot, and muggy is muggy. My frizzy hair told the whole story.
And then there was this:
Sue Martin
“Troy deserves to be on the list because DESPITE our bargain basement millage rate.”
Sorry, Sue, but if you use Cupertino’s base tax rate on that $166,000 house we’ve been referencing you’d pay $2,075 compared to Troy’s $7,300 in the Lamphere School District.
We win…again.
Cupertino can match this one point for point, and then some:
Martha Brandt Johnson
"Troy has wonderful schools, beautiful parks, awesome restaurants, fantastic shopping and tons of diversity. We have the luxury of being close enough to downtown Detroit, and are able to attend a football, baseball, or hockey game without it being a multi-hour excursion. Sports aren't your thing, then go ahead and enjoy all the arts available, the shows, the symphony, the opera, a wonderful art museum. Troy crime rate is low, and our fire department is a model example of hometown enthusiasm being mostly volunteer and still extremely effective!"
Well, hang on a sec Martha, I’ll give you the shopping point. Troy beats Cupertino there hands-down. But just wait until our project is complete. Plus going to sporting events here (and it’s only 15 to 20 minutes to the Shark Tank) isn’t like taking your life in your hands by traveling to Detroit.
C’mon Cupertino, fight back! Tell ‘em what we got!
