Ken Behring Estate Sold At Auction For Record-Breaking Price
The 27,000-square-foot Blackhawk estate modeled after Fallingwater broke the record for the highest priced residential sale in Danville.
DANVILLE, CA — A Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired mid-century home commissioned by Seahawks owner Ken Behring is pending sale for $12.096 million, breaking the record for the highest priced residential sale in Danville, Concierge Auctions announced. The custom-built estate was offered in conjunction with Joujou Chawla of Compass California, and auctioned in New York alongside some of the most lavish properties in the world. Despite the record-breaking bid, it is only about half of the $25 million it was originally listed for in 2023.
Behring commissioned the 27,000-square-foot home built in 1988, and modeled it after Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Fallingwater. It is spread out across 4.5 acres on a quiet cul-de-sac in Blackhawk Country Club, a club built by Behring. As befits the largest sale in Danville history, it boasts a slew of palatial amenities:
- Seven bedrooms
- 10.5 bathrooms
- A 7,000-square foot ballroom with marble floors and nine crystal chandeliers
- Four different kitchens (including one next to the primary suite and a full outdoor kitchen)
- A tennis court cantilevered over the hillside
- Multi-level koi ponds
- A plaster pool and spa with a nearby waterfall
- Seven parking spaces, including a four-car garage, three-car carport, and golf cart garage
- An entry sculpture hand-designed by Salvatore Pecoraro
- Priceless pieces of art that come with the home
- A 10,000-bottle wine cellar
- Panoramic views
- Fine materials taken from a quarry bought by Behring just to build the home
“The Behring Estate stands as a landmark among residences in Blackhawk and the broader East Bay,” agent Joujou Chawla said in a statement. “We are happy to have partnered with Concierge Auctions to not only find the next owner of this exceptional property but also to pass on the extraordinary living experience it provides.”
