Ken Behring was a developer who built the Blackhawk Country Club and later developed Canyon Lakes in San Ramon. In 1988, the same year he built his estate, he purchased the Seattle Seahawks with his partner Ken Hofmann, which he later sold in 1997 to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. He was often included in the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans, and had a net worth of $495 million in 1997, which is worth about $943 million in 2023. He died in 2019.

“It is an iconic estate,” Compass listing agent Joujou Chawla told SFGate. “Its location, its views and the architecture and the style. It’s just a magnificent home.”
