NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — A ticket purchased for Saturday night's Powerball drawing landed one Northern California person an impressive payday: $1,176, 502.

The ticket was sold at Romeys Liquor Store in Woodland, north of Davis.

The ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball and the jackpot of $69 million.

The winning numbers for Saturday were 4, 34, 35, 38, 69, and the Powerball was 19.

The jackpot for Monday's drawing grew to $80 million. The top prize won was $17,012, for matching for regular numbers and the Powerball.

The winning numbers for Monday were 8, 42, 46, 48, 53, and the Powerball was 22.

Powerball is a multi-state lottery and no one won the jackpot elsewhere. The estimated jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is $93 million.

If you win, keep in mind the federal government will take a 24 percent cut of any prize worth $5,000 or more. The tax is withheld before any money is paid to the winner.

California is one of just eight states that do not tax lottery winnings. The others are Florida, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming.
