Consumers Asked To Show Some Love For Their Farmers Market This Summer

A non-profit organization is asking consumers to support their local farmers market this summer by pledging to shop there.

American Farmland Trust has kicked off its I Love My Farmers Market campaign for 2013. It's the fifth consecutive year for the summertime program.

The trust is asking consumers to pledge to spend $10 during one week of the summer at their local farmers market. They hope to raise $1 million to help local farms by the time the campaign ends on Sept. 9.

The Davis Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 4:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Central Park at 5th and B streets. A farmers market at UC Davis is open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Silo Patio.
