Crash Shuts Down Road In Napa County All Day After Car Hits Power Pole, Damages Winery: CHP

The California Highway Patrol close a roadway for 16 hours to allow repairs to a power pole following a car crash.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A crash Sunday morning in Napa County shut down a roadway near Yountville for most of the day, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, CHP officers said a car crash happened on the Silverado Trail north of Yountville Crossroad in an unincorporated part of Napa County.

A 26-year-old Napa man was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado south when his car veered off the road in rainy conditions, according to police. The vehicle struck a PG&E power pole, causing a second pole to fall, officers said.

CHP officials said the collision also damaged the rock wall at a winery.

The driver and his two passengers, one of whom was a 2-year-old, were injuries in the crash. Investigators said they have determined that impairment was not a factor.

CHP reported Monday that the closure of Silverado Trail lasted around 16 hours. The extended closure was necessary to address the crash and subsequent repairs to the damaged power poles in the area, police said.
