Have You Ever Been 'Doored' on Your Bike? (VIDEOS)
The Enterprise covered the issue last week. Here are some videos of cyclists being "doored."
Although I’ve never been "doored" myself, I have had a couple of close calls. For those who don’t know what "dooring" is, it's when a cyclists rides by as a car door swings open. The result is an unpleasant wreck.
Robb Davis wrote an interesting story about it in the Enterprise last week. Check it out here.
Assigning blame in a "dooring" incident is not an open-shut case (A play on words!), so it's important for both drivers and cyclists alike to pay attention. Cyclists should keep a safe distance between themselves and lines of cairs, while drivers should survey the area before popping open their door.

The issue is addressed in the "cycling etiquette" section of DavisWiki, which says: Be sure to avoid the door zone when passing parallel-parked cars. There are many places downtown where bike lane is adjacent to parked cars, and riders should stay far enough left to avoid being hit by doors flung open by unwatchful car occupants.
Have you ever witnessed somebody being "doored?" Or have you had it happen to you personally? Tell us about it below.
