Merryhill Preschoolers Celebrate Earth Day with Butterfly Release
Students celebrated Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing butterflies in their schoolyard to help local vegetation
Students at Merryhill Preschool in Davis recently explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released butterflies throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students also built a flower garden on the school’s playground and planted various types of flowers, which they will continue to take care of while learning what plants need to survive.
Leading up to Earth Day, students observed caterpillars, their cocoon development and transformation into butterflies. Merryhill Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
