Everywhere Science launches first-ever Davis Flash Film Challenge set for Jan. 28 (dailydemocrat.com) — Local filmmakers of all ages can join the free Davis Flash Film Challenge starting Jan. 28 at Everywhere Science’s Davis studio, then see their work screened Feb. 28 at Sudwerk Brewing. Supported by a City of Davis arts grant, the monthlong contest includes workshops, a surprise creative prompt, and community awards, all aimed at nurturing Davis’s growing storytelling scene.
   

5. Make It Happen for Yolo County's 3rd Annual Paint for Purpose fundraiser set for Feb. 7 (dailydemocrat.com) — Davis residents can support local transition-age youth at the Paint for a Purpose fundraiser on Feb. 7 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis. For $75 a ticket, guests will create a guided painting, enjoy refreshments and prizes, and help Make It Happen for Yolo County furnish first homes for youth leaving foster care or homelessness.
