Do you Want "Cops off Campus?"

Many have called for the removal of police from campus after the pepper spray controversy at UC Davis.

Update: News broke Thursday that two people were killed by a gunman at Virginia Tech -- the same university where 33 people were killed by a suicidal man in 2007.

Kieth Bradnam, who works at UC Davis and keeps a blog, discussed a common demand among the Occupiers to completely remove police from the UC Davis campus. It has been chanted regularly at protests.

Bradnam plotted a map that shows the distance between the City of Davis Police Department and the one on campus. In his blog, he asks:

If people don't want cops on campus, would they want them "next to" campus, or do they want them to come from the City of Davis Police Department which is a 10 minute drive across town?

Check out his blog to see why he thinks the complete elimination of police should not be driving the conversation.
