West Sacramento Gunman Reportedly Killed in Firefight

9:16 - Several reports say that the man believed to be the West Sacramento gunman has been killed in a firefight. 

4:05 - The man detained has been released, KCRA reports.

2:45 - According to the Bee: "Deputies have detained a white male in the area near Lerwick Road and Morse Avenue." They believe he's connected to the second car theft, but they're not sure about the West Sacramento carjacking.

ORIGINAL STORY

Interstate 80 along the Yolo Causeway is closed to traffic in both directions as law enforcement officials search for a shooting suspect who fled from West Sacramento.

According to a Sacramento Bee report, California Highway Patrol Officer Rich Wetzel said the suspect is described as a white man in his mid-to-late-20s, balding and wearing a light shirt and dark pants.

West Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Nathan Steele explained officers responded to shots being fired at B&R Head & Block Repair, 407 Harbor Blvd. around 6:30 a.m.

Authorities advise motorists from Davis should take Highway 113 to Woodland and take Interstate 5 to Sacramento instead of I-80.
