Romney or Paul Will Win GOP Nomination? (POLL RESULTS)

Was Newt Gingrich's South Carolina victory a fluke, or is the GOP battle just beginning? Share in the comments.

We ran a poll Monday asking readers which Republican they thought was most likely to win the nomination. The results were a bit surprising, at least compared to other national trends.

In most polls, including this one, Newt Gingrich has squashed Mitt Romney’s once-massive lead, leaving Ron Paul and Rick Santorum as mere subplots to a larger conversation. Davis Patch readers, however, still have Paul in the race. That makes some sense, though, considering Paul's deep, committed base of supporters. But it's still a bit surprising that he's ahead of Gingrich in the poll.

Here are the results as of Wednesday morning. The original story is below.
