Yolo County Board of Education Set to Approve New Trustee Maps
Yolo County Committee on School District Organization Sets Final Public Hearing for February 15 on Proposed Trustee Maps

Woodland, CA - The Yolo County Committee on School District Organization is set to hold a public hearing to complete its redistricting process and make a final decision on revised trustee area boundaries for the Yolo County Board of Education. Every 10 years, local governments use census data to redraw their trustee area maps to reflect population change.
On February 15, the county committee will hold a public hearing at 3:30 p.m. to seek community input and review the five proposed trustee maps for the county board of education.
At the conclusion of the public hearing, the county committee is anticipated to take action on the adoption of the redistricting plan for the trustee areas.

Since October, the county committee has held four meetings and three public hearings on redistricting.
In December, the county committee reviewed four proposed trustee maps and requested a fifth map that would incorporate Winters into one trustee area.
In January, the county committee met and declined to vote on the redistricting plan as not all trustees were present for the vote.
The Yolo County Board of Education is composed of five trustee areas. The 2020 census showed sizable population growth in West Sacramento and smaller growth in Davis and the unincorporated areas of the county.
Trustee area populations currently range from a low of 40,565 to a high of 44,997. The California Education Code requires boards of education to analyze new Census data to re-balance the population within each trustee area and redraw the area boundaries if necessary.
Redistricting must be completed by the end of February. Once the redistricting plan is approved, the final trustee maps will be submitted to the Yolo County Elections Office.
