Torrey Pines wins 6th CIF Boys Lax Title with 7-5 win over Coronado

Willauer-Contributing Writer-San Marcos High School-San Marcos, CA-The Falcons of Torrey Pines High School known for their lacrosse tradition of being ranked in the country along with some outstanding high school players they have produced and went onto colleges took care of some business after the regular season 13-3 win but tonight was a different story as both teams were tied at 5-5, the Falcons went ahead on go ahead and key goals by Shayne Grant and Blake Erlbeck defeated the Islanders of Coronado by a 7-5 score.

Jono Zissi Torrey Pines Head Lacrosse Boys Coach: "Coronado's goalie (Taylor Falkowski) did a great job in the nets when Blake Erhlbeck's goal put our squad up 7-5, that was the highight of the game." "Blake has contributed to our team with his scoring averaging 12 points a game as in our other teammates in Alex Pistorius and Bradley Lienhart all played well for us."

"Our defense did a good job in a man down situation by stopping their shots our goalie Steve Lautier and defense being a man down on the 2:00 minute unreleasable penalty saved us for the win." "Once when we trailed 3-2 and 3-3 we loosen up and hit a groove and played well." " We defeated them the last time at their place 13-3 but today it's the playoffs it is a different brand of lacrosse."

Torrey Pines: Blake Erlbeck 2 goals and 1 assist, Alex Pistorius 2 goals, Shane Grant 1 goal, Brad Lienhart 1 goal and 2 assists, Dewey Egan 1 goal. Steve Lautier 12 saves

Coronado: Taylor Falkowski 2 goals, Rich DiMaio 2 goals 2 assists Mica Grim 1 assist Jacob Brophy 1 goal Joe Walsh 18 saves

This is Torrey Pines 8th appearance in the CIF Boys Division Finals and have won their 6th title.

Coronado made their 5th Appearance in the Finals and won 3 CIF Titles.
