Del Mar Snack Shack Memories: Photos Of The Day

After 35 years, the Del Mar Snack Shack recently closed its doors.

DEL MAR, CA — After 35 years, the Del Mar Snack Shack recently closed its doors.

Owner Kathy Boehm shared her memories and submitted these photos looking back more than three decades at the Del Mar Snack Shack.

"I've served thousands of wonderful people from locals to international travelers for over 35 years," Boehm said. "I wanted to share some photo album memories with Patch readers and thank our next door neighbor, the Poseidon Restaurant, for their support through the years. They say music is the universal language, but from my point of view, it's burgers, shakes and summer beach breaks that bring people together from all over the world."

Friend and supporter Katy Brown explained that Boehm had a map mounted on the shack's wall, where customers pushed a stick pin in the cork board to show where they traveled from.

"Kathy is a legend, especially in Del Mar," Brown said. "I've observed snack bar customers who came from all over the world to enjoy vacation days at the beach. It was so much fun and amazing to meet this United Nations of travelers, half dressed, eating burgers and fries."
