Law enforcement officers fanned out around the San Diego County Fair overnight and arrested one suspected drunken driver and cited several others for various violations, a sheriff's sergeant said Sunday.
Sheriff's deputies joined with police officers from Coronado, La Mesa National City, Oceanside, San Diego and UC San Diego and personnel from the San Diego County Probation Department to conduct enforcement patrols Saturday night as the Del Mar venue continued its annual international beer festival, according to sheriff's Sgt. David Cheever.
The San Diego International Beer Festival began Friday and was scheduled to wrap up at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Law enforcement officers stopped 95 vehicles around the fairgrounds and in the cities of Del Mar, Encinitas, Solana Beach and San Diego, Cheever said.
In addition to the suspected drunken driver who was arrested, one motorist was cited for driving without a license and 15 other citations were issued for various traffic infractions, according to the sergeant.
The patrols were funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
