• After years of delays, San Diego County jails will remove triple bunks blamed in deaths (mercedsunstar.com) — San Diego County is finally removing triple bunk beds from its jails, including those once used at a now-closed facility in Descanso, after years of safety warnings and costly lawsuits. Supervisors approved $3.5 million to phase out the bunks, which have been linked to inmate deaths and serious injuries, while new housing units elsewhere are expected to absorb the reduced capacity.
