WALNUT, Calif. – The City of Walnut announces the appointment of Tom Weiner to the role of City Manager. His first day will be February 1, 2022.

“I am deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the City of Walnut. We are an award-winning and fiscally responsible city, which strongly focuses on customer service. I look forward to working with the amazing Walnut community, City Council, and staff in continuing the City’s tradition of excellence,” Weiner said.

Mr. Weiner, who holds a degree in Public Administration, brings over 30 years of municipal government experience to the Walnut City Manager position, with an extensive technical and management background. 

Prior to arriving in Walnut nearly 12 years ago, he held a variety of administrative and staff positions with the cities of Lake Elsinore, Norwalk, Signal Hill, La Habra, and Santa Fe Springs. 

Most recently, Mr. Weiner served as Walnut’s Assistant City Manager leading the City’s Planning and Community Development team. 

“I look forward to working closely with Mr. Weiner on upholding the excellent levels of service we have here in our City,” said City of Walnut Mayor Eric Ching, “I’m confident in his abilities to lead our staff and community to a bright future.”
