FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 15, 2021

WALNUT, Calif. – City Manager Rob Wishner announced this week he will retire on February 1, 2022 after serving nearly 16 years as City Manager for Walnut.

“After almost 35 years in city government, I am excited to explore a new opportunity, while continuing to work with and among local government entities,” Wishner said in a letter sent to the Walnut City Council & staff.

“It has been exciting to come full circle in a city where I began my career as an Intern and will culminate following 22 years of service and nearly 16 of those as City Manager,” he stated.

Wishner was appointed to the City Manager position in November 2006 after serving in other roles in Walnut as well as two other municipalities. 

During his tenure, Wishner served as President of the San Gabriel Valley City Manager’s Association, Member of the City Manager’s TAC of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, Board Member – Area D Office of Emergency Management, and LA County/ CJPIA appointed member of Liability Trust Fund Oversight Committee.

“A lot was accomplished with Rob as City Manager,” said City of Walnut Mayor Eric Ching, “Under his watch the city completed their General Plan update, constructed Meadow Pass Road, and performed numerous improvements to the city’s parks.”

“I wish him the best of luck in his new roles and thank him for everything he’s done for this city,” said Ching.
