Local Girls Sports in Wildcard Tuesday for their Respective Sports
Nogales, Walnut girls soccer and Nogales girls basketball team looks to make the main bracket with victories.

With the winter sports wrapping up last week, this week begins the post season or the “second season. Tuesday is wildcard day for girls’ sports with some local teams participating in hopes to make the main bracket with a victory.
Walnut’s girls soccer (11-9-4, 6-3-1 Hacienda) hosts St. Margaret in Division 4 after finishing third in the Hacienda League, winning three of its last four matches including a surprising 2-1 overtime victory over Los Altos. Should the Mustangs prevail, they will travel to Fairmont for Thursday’s first round. Kickoff is at 5pm.
Nogales girls’ soccer (7-9-2, 4-3-1 Montview) hosts Silver Valley in Division 7. Nogales was able to snag a wild-card bid going 3 for 4 the last four matches including a 1-1 tie against against Duarte. A victory earns a date with Kaiser in Thursday’s first round. Kickoff is at 4pm.

Nogales girls basketball (8-13, 5-3 Montview) is also represented as the Lady Nobles will travel to Cobalt for its Division 5AA matchup. Nogales received a wildcard bid despite losing two of its last three games. A victory will punch its ticket with a first round date with Colton on Thursday. Tip off at 5:30 pm
Update: Both soccer matches has been rescheduled to tomorrow due to inclimate weather.
