WALNUT, CA — Walnut City Manager Rob Wishner announced Wednesday he's retiring early next year.

His retirement is effective Feb. 1, according to a statement sent from the city. In a letter sent to the City Council and staff members, Wishner said his retirement represents a "full circle" moment because he started his career as an intern for Walnut.

"After almost 35 years in city government, I am excited to explore a new opportunity while continuing to work with and among local government entities," he said.

A search for a new city manager will begin soon, city officials said.
