1 Dead, 5 Injured In Fiery I-505 Crash In Solano County
A suspected DUI driver going the wrong way was killed in the crash late Sunday that blocked all northbound lanes of I-505, the CHP said.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A wrong-way driver was killed when he collided with a vehicle on Interstate Highway 505 north of Vacaville late Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol said. The male driver of a 2009 Toyota Camry was traveling south on I-505 in the No. 1 northbound lane south of Allendale Road around 11 p.m. when he struck a 2008 Honda Civic head-on the No. 1 northbound lane, the CHP said.
At least one vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived.
Two Vacaville residents in the Honda suffered major injuries and were taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, the CHP said. Three others suffered minor injuries.

The Toyota driver died at the scene, and alcohol and/or drugs are suspected as a contributing factor in the fatal collision, the CHP said.
The Solano County coroner's office has not identified the Toyota driver.

All lanes of northbound I-505 in unincorporated Solano County were closed until about 1:30 a.m. Monday because of the collision.
