4-H'ers Raise $1,500 During Dixon's Relay for Life

Dixon 4-H Club members raised $1,500 during this year's Relay for Life held over the weekend at the Dixon May Fair Grounds.

The Dixon 4-H clubs were represented by a "tiny, but mighty" team of 4-H members and parents at the 2011 Relay for Life. Eight of the 13Β teammatesΒ spent the entire 24 hours at the track at the fairgrounds.

Our mightyΒ members logged more than 20 miles with the pony cart, giving rides around the track to weary walkers for a donation, in addition to walking the track.Β  And these same mighty members - Audrey, Nikki, Sheridan, Kristen and Lauren worked as a team during the wee hours of the night, allowing the three adults to "nap" for two hours.

The team had someone walking on the track for the entire 24 hours. We raised approximately $1,500 for the American Cancer Society, and hope to meet our goal of $2,000 by August.

Why do we Relay?Β  Many 4-H families have been touched by cancer over the years, andΒ a couple of the members themselves haveΒ battled cancer. This is the 6th year that Dixon 4-H has had a team at Relay, and we will continue to support the ACS so that everyone can "Celebrate More Birthdays".
