
Solano County is in the process of updating its plan that seeks to reduce the impacts of such natural disasters as flooding, fires and earthquakes in the unincorporated areas of the county.
The Solano County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMP) identifies the natural hazards that affect the County, their impacts, and the desired mitigation actions to address and minimize those impacts.
“We can’t control Mother Nature, but we can design land use plans and building standards to lessen her effects,” said David Cliché, Solano County Building Official. Cliché is leading the Mitigation Planning Team updating the MHMP.

Cliché said updating the MHMP will be the County’s primary tool to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards in the unincorporated areas of county. The updated plan could also reduce the cost of insurance to residents in the affected areas.
The Mitigation Planning Team is seeking the public's help and input during the update process. Two locations and dates have been selected:

Two community meetings are planned to get public input for the MHMP Update:
- Monday, Nov. 14 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Vacaville Fire Protection District at 6080 A St. in Elmira.
- Thursday, Nov. 17 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Cordelia Fire Protection District at 2155 Cordelia Road in Fairfield.
