Tremont 4-H Club is Celebrating Arbor Day
National Arbor Day is celebrated yearly in April. To carry on the Arbor Day tradition started in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, Tremont 4-H has, for several years, celebrated the day by planting trees in Dixon as a Community Service Project. This is the clubβs way to give back to their community that supports them and to make Dixon a more beautiful place to live.

The trees requested by Dixon Parks and Recreation are California Pepper, Linden Tree, Autumn Maple, Deodar Cedar. Club members are asking families, friends, and neighbors for donations of trees. A club member will assist you in purchasing a tree or the donor may go directly to Lemuria Nursery to purchase a tree for Tremont 4-H to plant or make a monetary donation towards the purchase of a tree.
At Lemuria just ask for Pete, Erik, Jennifer, or Matt. Lemuria Nursery is at 7820 Serpa Lane in Dixon and tell them the tree is for Tremont 4-H to plant for Arbor Day. The trees will be planted at Northwest Park on April 30 starting at 9 a.m. The club invites the community to come by and join in the event by cheering the youth on in their digging!

Β Tremont 4-H Club and Roving Clovers 4-H Club participate in Tractor Supply Fundraiser
Tremont and Roving Clovers 4-H Clubs had their picture taken to launch the annual 4-H TSC Paper Clover Campaign fundraiser for 4-H clubs. The success of last fallβs campaign spurred TSCβs continued support of the community fundraising event.Β Through Monday, April 25, shoppers at the Dixon Tractor Supply Company will have the opportunity to support 4-H in Solano County by purchasing paper clovers for just $1 at checkout.Β All funds raised through this local 4-H TSC Paper Clover Campaign will be donated to 4-H, and will support local camps, after-school programs and other 4-H youth development program activities in Solano County.
To date Dixon Tractor Supply has donated $563.60 to the Solano County 4-H Youth Development Program through the Paper Clover Campaign. Local 4-H clubs will also be showing their animals at Dixon Tractor Supply. The βOut Here with Animalsβ event will be held on April 30, 2011 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For larger animals, TSC will be providing panels to house the animals. Please contact Roselle Ritchey by email roselle@ritcheyfamily.com or phone (707) 592-0204 if your club will be participating. Dixon Tractor Supply Store is a strong supporter of 4-H.
Tremont 4-H Club Community Service at Dixon May Fair
Members of Tremont 4-H Club members spent several hours cleaning and setting up the Small Animal Barn in preparation of Dixon May Fair. They swept, raked and generally spruced up the area. Then cages for the rabbits, poultry and turkeys were carried in and set in place. Colorful skirts were attached to the bottom of each set of cages to spruce up the barn. This was followed by a lunch of pizza.
Tremont 4-H Club Presets at Dixon Family Services Block Party
Tremont members brought rabbits and a chicken to the Block Party held at the Womenβs Improvement Park on April 23. Big Boy, a very large, floppy-eared rabbit was a real hit with the children and adults as he let them touch his soft furry hair as he happily munched on grass. At the end of the event, the Tremont officers presented a funny skit to the enjoyment of the attendees.Β The skit was written by Gabi Alcantara, Tremontβs club newsletter editor. It was a fun event and many questions were answered about what 4-H is and how to join it.
