Budget, City Manager Position on Tonight's Dixon City Council Agenda

The Dixon City Council is expected to act on the budget tonight and begin the recruitment process for a new city manager

There will be no shortage of items to discuss at tonight’s meeting of the Dixon City Council – everything from the budget, to the recruitment of a new city manager, and who will replace her in the meantime.

Since the beginning of the month, the Dixon City Council has been meeting to partake in special budget workshops. City of Dixon staff prepared the workshops to give the City Council a comprehensive picture of where the city stands with its finances and expenditures for fiscal year 2011-2012.

The Council scrutinized various aspects of the budget and directed staff to find ways to cut costs. One idea was to figure out which of the various organizations the city belongs to could be postponed without much of a financial impact on the city.

Tonight the council is expected to adopt the budget at its meeting.

The council is also expected to begin a Request for Proposal process to search for City Manager Nancy Huston’s successor. Huston took a job with Solano County, as its assistant county administrator, and will be leaving her position as Dixon City Manager at the end of the month.
