Dixon Toys for Tots has a chance to make at least a couple of thousand dollars for manning a fireworks booth at Safeway the week prior to the 4th of July.

June 27th…WEDNESDAY:  We need to have four people (two with Linda and me) only for a couple of hours in the morning to help set up. This is our mandatory collective set up help. Time to be announced.

*June 29th…FRIDAY:   We need to cover the whole day from 9 a.m. (8:30) to 10 p.m., with about six people in two or three shifts. This is  first our whole day.

*July 3rd…TUESDAY: We need six people for a half day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the same for the second shift  from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. This is our half day. This is 2nd full day.

July 4th...WEDNESDAY:   We need six people to cover the 8:30 to 11 a.m., shift and six to cover the 11 a.m., to 1 p.m., shifts. This is our mandatory collective shared duty day.

There will be three booths this year under the direction of the American Legion. Each group participating will receive a prorated share of the total (minus a cut for the Legion) sales profits. The pie isn’t being split that much and this early income will give TFT’s a needed early season boost to our fund raising.

So, PLEASE, give us as much time as you can. All of our time will be at the prime location at Safeway. The other two booths are at A St. & I.S. 80 and Jack in the Box. With no Fourth of July festival at the fairgrounds this year sales should be brisk.  Although hundreds are involved in the actual TFT’s organization only about 20 are on the email list.

Please respond ASAP with the dates and times your are available and I’ll make a schedule up so everyone knows what’s going on. This is a great financial deal for us with relative a small investment of time having fun selling fireworks.

You can email Ted Hickman at tedhick@gmail.com or call him at 707-678-203.

Editor's note: a previous version of this story misstated the type of festival at the fairgrouns. The Friends of the May fair are discontinuing the festival they throw each year at the fair grounds. The Dixon Rotary Club is putting on a fireworks show this year over Hall Memorial Park.
