Disney Icon to Perform at the Dixon May Fair
Selena Gomez to headline at the May Fair Saturday

Selena Gomez and her band The Scene will headline a concert Saturday, May 7 with special guest Days Difference. Gomez, a widely recognized singer and actress who stars on the Disney Channelβs Emmy award winning series βWizards of Waverly Placeβ is sure to offer a concert May Fair visitors will not soon forget.
βSelena Gomez is absolutely off the charts right now,β said Dixon May Fair CEO Jack Murphy. βEverywhere she goes, she has been a huge sellout.β

There are still tickets available for her May Fair concert, which will be the final performance in a line-up that also includes blues artists Jonny Lang and Robben Ford, rock and roll musicians John Kay and Steppenwolf and Eric Burdon and the Animals and country stars Trace Adkins and Merle Haggard.
Tickets can be purchased at the May Fair box office or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets are $49 and $45 for reserved and $39 general admission, and all prices include entrance into the Dixon May Fair.

Signed to Hollywood Records in 2009, Gomez released her debut album, "Kiss & Tell" with her band The Scene and it was certified Gold.Β "Naturally", the second single off "Kiss & Tell" was later certified Platinum.Β For their second album "A Year Without Rain" Selena Gomez and The Scene dived deeper into dance music and recently won the People's Choice Award for "Favorite Breakout Artist."
Gomez was born in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1992. Her career in show business began in 2001, when she performed on the popular childrenβs show, βBarney & Friendsβ as Gianna. Gomez was dropped from the series in 2003, and over the next two years, she auditioned for shows without much success. She landed a small role in the movie βSpy Kids 3-D: Game Overβ in 2003 and was also seen in βWalker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fireβ in 2005. She also got a part as Emily Grace Garcia in the television show βBrain Zappedβ in 2006, and even recorded a song for the show.
In 2006, Gomez got her first major role when she guest starred as Gwen in βThe Suite Life of Zack and Codyβ on the Disney Channel. She also played the role as the evil Mikayla in Disneyβs βHannah Montanaβ.Β Gomez landed her first starring role when the Disney Channel cast her as Alex Russo in the series βWizards of Waverly Placeβ in 2007.Β She was in her first animated movie, βHorton Hears a Who!β in 2008 and later starred in the ABC Family movie, βAnother Cinderella Storyβ. She has also filmed two movies for the Disney channel, and starred in βWizards of Waverly Place: The Movieβ in 2009.Β Gomez was also seen last summer in Foxβs βRamona & Beezusβ and will next be seen in βMonte Carloβ, opposite Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester.Β Β
Gomez also has a growing music career. She started in 2008 when she recorded a cover of "Cruella de Vil" for βDisneyMania 6β. She also recorded three songs for the soundtrack to her movie βAnother Cinderella Storyβ, and a song for the animated movie, βTinker Bellβ. Gomez recorded the single "One and the Same" for her movie βPrincess Protection Programβ as a duet with her friend and co-star Demi Lovato. She also recorded four songs for the soundtrack to her other feature film, βThe Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movieβ. She singed a record contract with Hollywood Records in 2008.
The May 7 concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the May Fair arena.
