Dixon Charter School Blaze May Have Been Intentional: Fire Chief

A fire that significantly damaged Montessori Charter School last Friday may have been set on purpose, Dixon's Fire Chief has said.

DIXON, CA -- A fire last Friday that caused significant damage at Montessori Charter School may have been intentionally set, a Dixon fire chief says.

Dixon Fire Dept. Division Chief Dean Sarley was quoted by the Vacaville Reporter in a May 14 article as saying that the fire is not believed to have been an accident.

"There was no other contributing factors that could have produced a heat source,” Sarley was quoted by the newspaper as saying. “It (the fire) was in a hallway where there was no power, nothing was plugged into it. There’s basically no other way for this stuff to catch on fire other than for intentional reasons.”

"Hopefully they set it, it scared them, they ran away and they won’t play with fire again,” he said.

The damage is estimated at between $1,500 and $2,000.
