Dixon Grass Fire Reaches Second Alarm

Second alarm called off after Dixon Firefighters gained the upper hand on the blaze

battled a five-acre grass fire along Highway 113 near Hay Road.

The fire began on the east side of Highway 113, around 4:34 p.m., and quickly spread among the dry grass growing alongside the roadway.

Dixon firefighters upgraded the fire to a second alarm, as a precautionary measure Dixon Fire Division Chief Greg Lewis said, due to an engine that lost its air pressure, causing its brakes to malfunction.

Flames could be seen as far away as Vacaville as the firefighters responded to the scene and gained containment of the fire. By 6 p.m. the firefighters had gained containment.Β 

No structures were threatened and no injuries reported. As of the time of this posting, the firefighters were investigating the cause of the fire.
