Dixon Lions Club Poker Tourney A Big Success

This year's poker tourney drew over 70 players to Dixon

Organizers ofΒ  the Dixon Lions Club 4th Annual Poker Tournament Fundraiser held on Aug. 13, at the are pleased with its results.

The poker tourney serves as a fundraiser for the club who uses the money raised at the event to do several service projects in the community.

β€œIt was a success, we kind of made the money we were hoping to make, it was better than last year,” said David Kushan, the club’s second vice president. β€œIt seems like everyone I talked to had a great time. There was a lot more energy this year.”

Β Kushan said 72 players participated during this year’s tournament. One of the big changes this year, Kushan said, was the increase in the number of players who re-bought into the tournament.

Β β€œA lot more people re-bought than last year and it led to a more enjoyable event,” Kushan said.

Β Participants paid $75 for entrance into the tournament, which included a full tri-tip dinner. Players who lost all of their chips within the first hour of the tournament were allowed to re-buy into it for $20. In addition, players who hadn’t yet lost their chips but wanted an add on to their chip stacks were given the opportunity to buy more chips.

In the end, it was Steven Perry who placed first in the tournament and won the $500 gift card. Gary Clift placed second and won a $300 gift card; Sam Chatfield took third place and won a $200 gift card and fourth place went to Tom Rhodes, who won a ticket to the 2012 Lions Dinner Dance ticket.
