Original story posting:

An eight-alarm vegetation fire on the northeastern edge of Fairfield has grown to around 700 acres and threatened one home, fire officials said this SaturdayΒ evening.

The fire, first reported in the area of Torrington Way and Mystic Drive shortly before 6 p.m., has expanded to the northeast toward Vacaville, Fairfield Fire Chief Vincent Webster said.

The fire, which has reached the maximum possible level of eight alarms, is about 60 percent contained and probably won't be completely under control before morning, Webster said.
