Fairfield Man Stabs Ex-Wife in Her Head, Abdomen

Family members subdue the ex-husband, police arrest him shortly after.

A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries when she was allegedly stabbed by her ex-husband at a Fairfield home Thursday afternoon, Fairfield police said.

A 39-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds to her head and abdomen was found at a home in the 2000 block of Peach Tree Drive around 4:10 p.m., police said.

She was taken to NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield with serious injuries, police said.

Officers arrested the suspected attacker at the scene and identified him as 47-year-old Gustavo Ibarra, of Fairfield. He is believed to be the victim's ex-husband.

The man was subdued by the victim's family members who were present during the stabbing, police said. Apparently, Ibarra had come to the home and confronted the victim while armed with several bladed weapons.

Police recovered all the weapons at the scene.

Ibarra was allegedly combative during his arrest, police said.

He was taken to Solano County Jail where he was booked on an attempted murder charge, along with an unrelated traffic warrant, according to police.
