Fairfield Police Identify Pipe Bomb Suspect

Police have identified 29-year-old Daniel Garcia as the suspect in two explosive device incidents in Fairfield in the past month.

On May 27, police found that a pipe bomb had been detonated under a parked vehicle in a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1400 Phoenix Drive.

The owner of the vehicle put out the fire from the explosion before police arrived. The blast caused minor damage to the vehicle's undercarriage, police said.

Police executed a search warrant at a location in the 1600 block of Quincey Lane Thursday afternoon and found an explosive device and the materials to make it, Sgt. Randall Boggs said.

Neighborhood homes were evacuated and technicians from the FBI, Yolo County Bomb Squad and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms responded and rendered the device safe, Boggs said.

Further investigation led to the identity of Garcia as a suspect, Boggs said.

Police have a $200,000 arrest warrant for Garcia's arrest for use of a destructive device, Boggs said.

Garcia is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 250 pounds, is bald and has blue eyes, Boggs said. He frequents the Fairfield and Vacaville area, Boggs said.
