Fatal Train Crash Near Dixon Ruled Suicide

The deadly collision between a vehicle and an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train was suicide, Solano County coroner's officials have ruled.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — The death of a young male driver in a collision with an Amtrak Capitol Corridor train Tuesday afternoon near Dixon was ruled a suicide, according to the Solano County coroner's office. The suicide determination is based on a review of a video taken by a camera on the train. The victim was a 21-year-old Dixon man, coroner's officials said.

The train with 55 passengers aboard and the vehicle collided in the area of 7118 Batavia Road shortly before 3 p.m. The train was traveling from San Jose to Sacramento.

The California Highway Patrol, Solano County Sheriff's Office, Amtrak and Union Pacific Railroad responded to the scene.
