Join the Fun! Tremont 4-H Club Invites You to Join

Tremont 4-H club is inviting for youth to join them in their activities for the coming 2011-2012 club year.

4-H offers limitless opportunities for friendship, growth, fun, and development. By engaging youth and adults in meaningful partnerships, 4-H helps young people to reach their full potential as competent, confident, leaders of character who contribute and are connected to their communities.

Youth can choose from many activities related to science, the arts, citizenship, nutrition, and more. Tremont’s project activities are graphic arts, sewing, foods and nutrition, fishing, leadership, birds and poultry, cavies, record keeping, rabbits, woodworking, outdoor adventure, swine, sheep, goats, scrapbooking, and photography.

Adult leaders guide the projects and activities. If an adult has a special interest and wants to lead a project group, there is curriculum available and lots of support.

After joining the club, meetings are at the at 209 North Jefferson Street every third Wednesday from September through May. The club meetings are run by officers elected by the club who plan the activities, budget, and goals for the year. There are youth opportunities to be on committees at the club, county, and state levels.  Adults offer guidance, support and help youth learn life skills. 

Sign-ups for 2011-2012 year are on-line at california.4honline.com. Tremont 4-H is having an informational meeting and computers will available to help with sign-ups on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m., at the Dixon Moose Lodge at 180 West B Street.

The cost to join the 4-H program is $25. A parent or guardian must accompany their child to the enrollment night.  It is best to enroll early, but enrollment of new members will continue to December 31, 2011.
