New Children’s Store Offers Free Classes, Preschooler’s Story Time

Nana and Company opens up shop in Downtown Dixon

Nana and Company, a children’s resale boutique and parent resource center has opened in the heart of downtown Dixon with an appropriate mission to build better families, says owner Debra Dingman. Clothing, gear, and classes are offered for the childbearing years and several classes are kicking off this month.

There is a free Early Pregnancy Class on Tuesday, March 20, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and a free monthly ‘New Moms Meet Up’--where mothers are encouraged to bring their babies--slated for Thursday, March 22, 9:30-10:30 a.m. More detailed information is available on the new website, www.NanaAndCompany.com.

There will also be a free ‘Little People’s Story Time’ that will happen every other Wednesday for children age 2-5 years, beginning March 28, opposite the Wednesday mornings offered by the story times. Nana’s story time hours will be 9:30-10:15 a.m. and will also include songs and finger plays.

‘Grandparenting 101’ is a monthly 2-hour class to help new grandparents decipher the latest in baby cares safety and trends that will help them provide better support for their grown children’s families. The first one will be Thursday, March 29, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Nana and Company Children’s Resale Boutique at 141 North First Street. Pre-registration is required for all classes either online or by phone, (707) 678-Nana.

The most significant service they offer, according to Dingman, is the natural childbirth course.

“Our childbirth preparation course will impact new parent’s lives positively for many years to come,” she said. “I know that with absolute certainty as many of my students have stayed in touch.”

Dingman is completing her re-certification as a Childbirth Educator and Bradley Doula. She taught the Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth for 10 years while labor coaching and working as an Assistant Midwife. She is planning a Grand Opening and on Thursday, April 19 at 10 a.m. that the public is invited to. There will be special entertainment and door prizes.

“We will have been open a month by then and hopefully will have most of the bugs worked out of the systems so it will be time to more formally introduce ourselves and see how we can further serve our customers,” said Dingman, who previously owned Tots Trade Center and then Just Kidding for several years in downtown Davis.

“This store continues the 23-year-old store tradition of buying and selling new and gently-used clothing, toys, books, baby equipment, furniture, and maternity clothes,” she said.

Seventy percent of the inventory is purchased directly from the customers while 30 percent is new. The store carries a brand new line of Jenny Lind furniture, umbrella strollers and some other miscellaneous baby equipment, some toys, and some clothes.

“Our inventory changes daily with new arrivals and one can always find a bargain,” she said. Customers who don’t find what they are looking for may put in a ‘request’ and they are called as soon as the item arrives.

Regular store hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
