New Owners of Dawson’s Prepare for Grand Re-Opening

Back in November, the popular Downtown Dixon eatery and bar closed its doors and changed owners. Since then the restaurant and bar’s new owners – Claire Fazzare and Kendra Lindstrom – have been busy renovating the bathrooms and putting in new floors.

Now the duo is working towards the goal of re-opening the bar – with the restaurant to follow – by the end of the week.

“Hopefully (we open) by the end of next week or the following Monday,” Lindstrom said.

“Cooking will start within, probably four to five days after the bar opens,” added her partner, Fazzare.

Fazzare’s background is rooted in Woodland’s Plainfield Station Bar and Grill, where she was previous owner.

“Kendra was my bartender for seven years out there and we heard that this place was up for sale and so we decide to buy it,” Fazzare said.

Fazzare and Lindstrom said a major focus of the restaurant is to welcome back Dawson’s loyal clientele, as well new patrons.

“We are looking forward to having new people come in, good food, good people, good drinks,” Fazzare said. “It’s going to go back to the old menu, pretty much the old homemade breakfasts and stuff like that. I will have specials and soups and homemade chili. Comfort food.”

“We are aiming to bring it back to the old Dawson’s,” Lindstrom said.

“Tweaked our way,” Clair added with a smile.

At first, the restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m., Lindstrom said, with the bar remaining open through the night. Fazzare said she would like to eventually institute dinner hours depending on the feedback that hungry Dixonites gives.

In addition, the new owners plan to offer specials at the restaurant and to celebrate fun events such as St. Patricks’ Day. They also plan to host bands and karaoke nights to give Dixon residents a place to enjoy some nightlife.

Fazzare and Lindstrom said they plan to hire roughly 10 people and are looking for cooks and bartenders to help operate the restaurant.

A grand re-opening party with live entertainment is in the works and Dixon Patch will report on it as soon as the plans have been solidified.

“We are just long forward to getting to know the people and giving good customer service,” Fazzare said.
