Dec. 18 Vallejo/Vacaville A/E Source: Faces and Places (thereporter.com) — Dixon-area students eyeing ag careers can now apply for the Friends of the Dixon May Fair’s 2026 Huffman scholarships, with $31,000 available and applications due March 1, 2026. Several recent winners hail from Dixon High, and applications must be mailed to the Friends’ Dixon P.O. box, making this a strong opportunity for local teens planning university or community college studies.
   

2. Man shot, killed by Dixon police officer identified (abc10.com) — Authorities have identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Dixon earlier this month as 61-year-old Nathan Arthur Dew. Investigators say he led police on a chase from North First Street to Sievers Road, then pointed what appeared to be a handgun, later found to be a BB gun. A Solano County task force is investigating, and officials are asking witnesses to come forward.
   

3. 63 People Sick, 13 Hospitalized Related to Eggs Contaminated with Salmonella (people.com) — Eggs from Vega Farms in Dixon have been recalled after at least 63 Californians got sick and 13 were hospitalized with Salmonella, with products sold to restaurants, grocery stores, and farmers markets across Northern California. Brown eggs in 12-egg cartons and 30-egg flats with handler code 2136 and sell-by dates of Dec. 22 or earlier are affected, so Dixon-area shoppers should double-check any recent egg purchases.
   

4. Prep girls soccer: Vacaville continues rolling with shutout of American Canyon (timesheraldonline.com) — Vacaville High’s girls soccer team is on a tear, and Dixon fans will note that standout scorer Sophia Franzoni netted four of her nine early-season goals in a recent match against Dixon. The Bulldogs just blanked American Canyon 7-0 and, with 12 returners and strong chemistry, are eyeing a deep postseason run that could shape future regional matchups.
