A woman told officers she had been walking when two men and a woman whom she knew approached her. They then they assaulted her, according to police.

The woman, a Fairfield resident, said one of the men was armed with a knife and cut her many times. She suffered superficial cuts to her arms, abdomen and hip.

Officers searched the area for the assailants but did not find them. Meanwhile the woman was transported to Northbay Medical Center for treatment, police said.

As police investigated the case the woman admitted that she lied about the incident and had cut herself. She had wanted to falsely implicate someone in a crime because of a domestic situation she was in, police said.
