Solano County Fire Crews Clear 7-Alarm Vegetation Fire Near I-80 and I-680 Intersection
Firefighters left the scene of the blaze at 11:45 p.m., Monday

A seven-alarm vegetation fire that started Monday afternoon near Fairfield has been cleared, a Fairfield fire dispatcher said.
Fire units left the scene of the blaze around 11:45 p.m., the
dispatcher said. The fire was near the intersection of Interstate Highway 80 and Interstate Highway 680, just east of the intersection of Central Place and Pittman Road, according to Fairfield Fire Marshall Morgana Yahnke.

The California Highway Patrol closed the Cordelia Road exit from I-680 to keep traffic out of the area. The exit reopened at 9:10 p.m., saidΒ CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano.
Motorists could see the fire and smoke from the roadway, Caggiano said.

The Fairfield Fire Department received assistance from surrounding agencies including Cal Fire, which is better equipped to handle vegetation fires.
The fire initially was a two-alarm fire.
