Update: Second Teen Arrested in Killing of Woodland Student's Pig

UPDATE: Yolo County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a second 17 year old juvenile for the theft and killing of a FFA pig from the Laugenour Land Lab in Woodland.

The second suspect a, 17 year old Woodland High School student, was arrested for grand theft, felony animal cruelty and conspiracy to commit theft and animal cruelty, said Sergeant Lance Falle in a statement. The boy was transported to and booked at the Yolo County Juvenile Hall.

The two 17 year old suspects are believed to be the only subjects involved in this case, acording to the Sheriff's Office.

A 17-year-old from Woodland was arrested today for stealing and killing a pig belonging to a teenage FFA student.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Department said the following in a release:

On Saturday, June 2, 2012, Marika Osegueda, a 17 year old Woodland High School student, reported that someone had taken her pig from the Laugenour Land Lab located at 39839 County Rd. 17A, Woodland.   Osegueda was raising the pig as part of the Future Farmers of America Program.

On Saturday, investigating deputies located a bloody hand print on the gate leading to missing pig’s pen. The ground inside the pig’s pen was covered in blood.

This morning, Yolo County Sheriff detectives contacted a 17 year old male from Woodland and interviewed him. The male was subsequently arrested and transported to the Yolo County Juvenile Hall for charges including felony grand theft and felony animal cruelty. The remains of the animal have since been located. 

The investigation is continuing.
