Two Boaters Rescued From San Joaquin River

Officials from Rio Vista marine units say the aluminum vessel had capsized near the Stockton Deep Water Channel.

RIO VISTA, CA- Two people were rescued Monday afternoon with the assistance of Bay Area-based U.S. Coast Guard crews after their boat capsized in the San Joaquin River.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco was notified by the station in Rio Vista around 1:30 p.m. that an aluminum vessel had capsized near the Stockton Deep Water Channel and two people were in the water.

According to the Coast Guard, a San Francisco aircrew was dispatched to better locate the boater's location.

Crews from the Coast Guard's station in Rio Vista and the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office's marine unit arrived on scene as well and were able to rescue the two mariners from the water.

Neither mariner reported any injuries in the incident, according to the Coast Guard.
