A Vacaville man went to jail early Saturday morning after colliding with two vehicles and driving away from the scene of the accident, according to police.

Dixon Police arrested Jesus Salvador Lopez, 28, of Vacaville, on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run, and possession of a controlled substance. The accident happened on the 100 block of North 1st St., not far from the Dixon Police Station at 1:20 a.m.

β€œI actually heard tires screeching from inside the police department,” said Dixon Police Officer Michael Geisser, who was the acting sergeant Saturday. β€œWhile I was outside – it was reported as a reckless driver – and while I was speaking to the victims of a hit-and-run, we saw the suspect vehicle drive by.”

Officers stopped Lopez and determined that he was DUI. The officers also discovered that Lopez had a Solano County, narcotics-related warrant out for his arrest, Geisser said. A subsequent search of Lopez’ vehicle yielded some cocaine.
