DUBLIN, CA — Five adults followed a Dublin High School student into the school locker room and assaulted him, according to DHS Principal Maureen Byrne and Dublin Police Services.

On Friday at around 3:30 p.m., Dublin police responded to reports of a fight on campus, according to new information released Tuesday afternoon. Police arrived to find a 15-year-old boy facing non-life-threatening injuries to his face and head. He was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and released shortly after.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was confronted by a Dublin High School parent, according to DPS. He retreated into the boys' locker room, followed by the parent and four unknown suspects wearing hoodies. They reportedly assaulted him until football Coach Napoleon Kaufman and other football players helped break up the fight. The suspects then fled the area.

“We are outraged that this happened on our campus. School must be a place where all feel safe and supportive. We are working with the police to address this to the full extent of the law,” Principal Byrne told school families in an email.

Byrne said that there will be a continued adult presence in the locker room, and the hallways facing the parking lot will remain locked until further notice.

On Aug. 19, Dublin High School went on lockdown due to a prank call about a non-existent fight involving a weapon. Valley High School, Emerald High School, and Wells Middle School also went into lockdown. Dougherty Elementary School also went on lockdown following Friday’s shooting, though most students had already gone home.
