DUBLIN, CA — The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau confirmed the identity of a 90-year-old man found dead in a pickup truck in a creek off Eden Canyon Road.
The man’s name was Joseph Eastwood III, according to the coroner, who confirmed that Eastwood was 90 years old and found in Dublin on Feb. 18. Eastwood was found on the ranch that had been in his family for several generations, according to his obituary. He was born in 1934 in Piedmont Hills, and raised five children with his wife in Danville. He joined the Marines and later took over ownership of his family’s business, Pacific States Steele. He is survived by five children and 13 grandchildren, and enjoyed duck hunting and skiing.
“Joe was well known for his quick-witted humor and intelligence that has fortunately lived on through his loved ones,” his family remembered.

Eastwood was missing for about a week and a half before he was found in his truck, according to a Bay City News report. On Feb. 18, CHP officers responded to a call reporting an F-150 truck overturned in a creek. Investigators believe Eastwood was leaving his property and traveling down his driveway when the truck flipped over. He was not wearing a seatbelt, and his head hit the windshield, CHP said.
