Castro Valley Vegetation Fire Sends Smoke To Nearby Cities

The fire was reported at 12:16 p.m.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA -- A brush fire was reported Sunday in Castro Valley, sending plumes of smoke to the surrounding areas. The incident was reported at 12:16 p.m. near Paloverde and Eden Canyon roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Aisha Knowles, a spokeswoman for the Alameda County Fire Department, said arriving crews reported a two-alarm vegetation fire. By 4 p.m., the fire was 100 percent contained at 48 acres, Cal Fire said.

Nearby residents wrote on Twitter that their neighborhoods were filled with smoke from the blaze.
